Our Statement of Mission

We, the Unitarian Congregation of Saskatoon, are a community founded on freedom of religious thought and exploration, which strives to:

  • Speak with honesty
  • Listen with respect
  • Reason with compassion
  • and live our principles

WE AFFIRM AND PROMOTE OUR PRINCIPLES

  1. The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
  2. Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
  3. Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
  4. A free and responsible search for truth and meaning
  5. The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our Congregation and in society at large;
  6. The goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all;
  7. Respect for the interdependent web of all existence, of which we are a part.

Previous Mission Statement

We, the Unitarian Congregation of Saskatoon, are dedicated to freedom of religious thought and expression. In recognition of our evolving religious heritage, based on the principles of individual freedom, reason, tolerance, and love, our mission is to:

  • Meet the deepest spiritual needs of each of us;

  • Be a mutually supportive community, sharing joys and sorrows;

  • Reach out to others who might want to join us;

  • Promote and apply our shared values both locally & around the world.

We covenant to help each other to the best of our ability in implementing this mission.
