Our time has come.

Must cultivate a people to run the new age with an opportunity and a duty.

Began in the orthodox church
Taught to believe.
Made to fear Doubt.
The natural inquisitiveness of the human mind drove us into the endless quest for Truth.
Creed, and doctrine after doctrine had to be abandoned.
Trinity. Fall of Man. Atonement. Eternal Punishment. Infallibility of the Bible.
Passed all these and destroyed them as we went.
Negative and skeptical
This will never become a basis for life.
Most of us have got nowhere
Rather lose my way out in God’s open than be chained in slavery to a creed for an hour.
Not all skepticism
Requires a great new faith to see the supreme good in a world of so much suffering.
Have you ever been alone in a crowd?
This is the worst kind of loneliness.
Mental and spiritual loneliness.
Must introduce ourselves.
Organize a thought and action community of our own
Look at human material
Have numerous eccentricities and peculiar idiosyncrasies
Coleridge was asked “Of what church is that the doctrine?”
“It’s the doctrine of the Holy Catholic Apostolic and Infallible church, of which I am at present the only member.”
Arrived at what seems to us to be vastly different points.
Christian Scientist - Spiritualist - Universalist - Semi-orthodox - Agnostic - Iconoclasts-Atheists -Materialists
Some of us have keen intellect and broad sympathies
Some bigoted, narrow, and ignorant.
Doing various good things - visiting the sick - reforming institutions.
This is what constitutes the real need of an All People’s Church
1) Take each other as we are - no miraculous regeneration or predetermined election
2) We all want to develop our best selves
· Purity is the condition
· Growth is the method
· Love is the motive
· Character is the end
· Service is the expression

This will not interfere with our differences
Don’t desire to make all people alike
Be the best possible as they are.
Lives need the fellowship which an All People’s Church would provide
1) Struggling along
2) Discouraged
3) Social intercourse and fellowship
Development of our emotions

THE BASIS OF OUR UNION
All in the universal quest for the thruth about life.
None of us have found it.
Character of a University.
University needs no creed. The love of learning is sufficient bond.
Not a union of people of the same opinion.
One reason why the churches are dead
Development of our own natures.
If I were making a Creed:
The Brotherhood of Man.
Almost universally accepted in theory.
Believe we might agree on this as a working principle.
Knowledge must find a way to express itself and lead to action.
Brotherhood is the spirit of the coming civilization.
Not take the place of scientific knowledge
Provide the will to do it
Lead to knowledge
Lead to the practical work of humanizing civilization.
From your neighbours in your immediate community
to the nations that fight against us.
An organization that will attack or advance a civic policy because it is inhuman, unbrotherly
An economic system
Social institutions
Numerous enough to become a force to be reckoned with is we will coalesce.
The churches of the orthodox faith are still a force today.
They are on the other side of the fence when it comes to the problems affecting life.
They have sufficient faith in themselves to continue.
What a power an All People’s Church might become.
