Our congregation is currently lay-led, which means that our services (like all aspects of our ministry) are currently being coordinated by members and friends of the congregation. In practical terms, this means that our services are planned by people from the congregation at monthly meetings. The Sunday Services committee looks both to the congregation and to the larger community for ideas and for speakers. There is a tremendous variety--some services can be very worshipful in nature, while others are more of the "food for thought" variety. The topics, too, are very diverse. One Sunday might feature members and friends talking about their own personal spiritual practices, while another might focus on a social action issue such as poverty or the environment. More academically oriented topics, such as ethics or health care, are also often found at our services. The Sunday Services committee is always looking for new ideas on topics for upcoming services, and also for volunteers to help prepare for and execute those services--everyone is welcome to be involved! |
